Whirlpool of India shares surged more than 12% during the trading session on Friday, September 25, continuing its upward trend this week after the company’s latest clarification that it is not involved in discussions or negotiations with the parent entity looking to sell its stake in the subsidiary firm.
NSE data showed that Whirlpool of India shares jumped 12.48% to hit an intraday high of ₹960 apiece on Friday’s market, in comparison to ₹853.45 apiece at the previous equity market close.
After hitting the day’s high, Whirlpool shares retracted some intraday gains but were trading 7.9% higher during the afternoon market hours around ₹923 per share, as per the exchange data.
Trading volumes crossing 28 million equity shares across NSE and BSE combined resulted in triggering the high-volume gains during the market session on Sept. 25.
Investors were focusing on the company’s stock with elevated trading interest as the company, while rejecting involvement in discussions or negotiations, did not refute the intent of its parent company looking to sell its stakeholding.
In an NSE filing on September 24, Whirlpool of India clarified that the company is not a party to discussions or negotiations with Whirlpool Corporation, the promoter entity, about selling its stake in the company.
This comes in response to news reports alleging that Whirlpool’s promoter entity, i.e., Whirlpool Corporation, is reportedly planning to sell its entire stake in the company.
Whirlpool of India also said that the intent of its parent company looking to reduce its stakeholding has been in the public domain since January 30, 2025.
“The intent of Whirlpool Corporation to reduce its shareholding in the company has been in the public domain since January 30, 2025. However, the company has not been a party to any negotiations that Whirlpool Corporation may have been having with potential buyers,” as per the official statement.
The company also said that it took steps to amend various intercompany arrangements in the interest of the company, which was disclosed to the stock exchanges on October 16, 2025.
“Accordingly, the company is not aware whether such further discussions relate to the entire shareholding or a part thereof, nor of the terms, price, or stage at which the negotiations may be,” as per the official clarification.
Whirlpool shares have lost more than 58% of their value in the last five years, over 44% of their value in the last three years, and declined nearly 26% in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.
On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the company’s stock has risen 3.8% so far in 2026, and has delivered more than 20% returns to investors in the last one-month period. The exchange data also showed that the company's stock has risen around 30% in the last five market sessions.
Whirlpool shares surged to their 52-week high of ₹1,437 apiece on October 31, 2025, while the 52-week low was at ₹706 apiece on September 18, 2026.
