State Bank of India shares soar nearly 4% following Q1 results; check net profit, NII and key highlights

State Bank of India share price: Shares of the country’s largest PSU bank, State Bank of India (SBI), were trading in the positive territory on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, August 7, after it reported robust earnings for the June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27).

The stock surged as much as 3.6% to hit an intraday high of ₹1,124.50 per equity share on August 7, compared with the closing price of ₹1,085 apiece in the previous trading session.

At around 2:30 PM, the scrip was trading 3.19% higher at ₹1,119.60 per unit.

The shares have advanced 9% in the past week and 8% over the month. They have jumped 14% on a year-to-date (YTD) basis.

While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹1,234.70 apiece on February 24, 2026, it touched a year’s low of ₹790 per equity share on August 8, 2025.

SBI Q1 results snapshot

SBI reported a standalone net profit of ₹21,121.22 crore in Q1 FY27, marking a 10.23% year-on-year (YoY) increase from ₹19,160.44 crore in the corresponding period of the preceding fiscal year. READ MORE.

Its net interest income (NII) advanced 14.88% YoY to ₹46,992 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹40,907 crore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 fiscal year (Q1 FY26), according to a regulatory filing.

Its domestic net interest margin (NIM) remained stable at 3% in the April to June FY27 quarter, falling one basis point (bps) YoY from 3.01% in the year-ago period. However, its margin improved by seven bps quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) from 2.93% in the fourth quarter of FY27.

SBI’s whole bank NIM stood at 2.86% for the reporting quarter, marking a 5 bps QoQ improvement over Q4 FY26.

Its asset quality improved, as it clocked its gross non-performing assets (GNPA) at 1.47% in the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reflecting a 36 bps YoY decline from 1.83% in the same period of FY26.

Its net non-performing assets (NNPA) fell by 9 bps YoY to 0.38% during the quarter, from 0.47% in Q1 FY26.
