Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems) at DRDO, Ummalaneni Raja Babu, says, "We are working on a concept called the Development cum Production Partner (DCPP) model, where we are handing over the entire missile production to the private companies." That way, private companies work very closely with DRDO in making all the systems."

According to news agency ANI, Babu stated that technologies are rapidly evolving, with the DRDO and other institutions, including the CSIR, actively working on new developments. He noted that DRDO has consistently encouraged private sector participation, adding that most of the systems being developed today are being manufactured by private players. Earlier, these companies were primarily involved as subsystem or system manufacturers, Babu added.
