Shipping Corporation, Nuvama Wealth, Bharti Hexacom shares surge amid spike in volumes

The Indian equity benchmarks came off intraday lows in afternoon deals owing to buying interest in ICICI Bank, Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, ITC, Bajaj Finance, Axis Bank and Eternal. As of 1:57 pm, the SENSEX was up 420 points at 72,329 and NIFTY50 index advanced 129 points to 22,554.

Here are shares witnessing spike in trading volumes:
Shipping Corporation of India: Shares of the state-run shipping company advanced as much as 9% to an intraday high of ₹291.10. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the country's largest commercial shipping company SCI will help India achieve its ambition of becoming a top shipping nation.

The shipping minister also said the company was expecting its Profit After Tax (PAT) to surpass ₹2,000 crore this fiscal from 1,352.92 crore on a standalone basis in the financial year ended March 2026.

Trading volume in the stock jumped 12.3 times to 1.52 crore shares compared with an average of 12.4 lakh shares on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Nuvama Wealth: Shares of the stock brokerage firm advanced 9.5% to an intraday high of ₹1,865, mirroring gains in other capital market stocks.

Trading volume surged 6.4 times to 32.41 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 5.09 lakh shares on the NSE.

As many as 2.32 lakh shares changed hands on the BSE compared with an average of 12,000 shares traded daily in the past two weeks.

Bharti Hexacom: Shares of the telecom services provider gained 1.2% to an intraday high of ₹1,396 amid spike in volumes.

Trading volume jumped 4.6 times to 5.04 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 1.1 lakh shares.

LG Electronics: Shares of household appliances maker advanced as much as 6.1% to a fresh 52-week high of ₹1,825 amid spike in volumes.

Volume on the NSE jumped 4.1 times to 25 lakh shares on the NSE and on the BSE 2.86 lakh shares changed hands as against its two-week average volume of 75,000 shares.

Avenue Supermarts: Shares of DMart retail chain operator fell as much as 6,2% as its quarterly business update failed to enthuse investors.

DMart said that its revenue in the second quarter increased by 18% annually to ₹19,206 crore from ₹14,050.32 in the same period last year.

The total number of stores as of September 30, 2026, stood at 518 stores.

Trading volume spiked by 3.8 times to 19.61 lakh shares compared with an average volume of 5.17 lakh shares.
