SENSEX slumps 202 pts, NIFTY50 below 25,600 in noon deals; LIC, Nykaa among buzzing stocks

The Indian benchmark indices, SENSEX and NIFTY50, were trading in the negative territory during the afternoon session on Friday, February 6, amid selling in IT, PSU Bank and capital market stocks, as the RBI’s MPC decided to keep policy rates unchanged.

The Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra announced that the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) unanimously decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and maintained a “neutral” stance.

The SENSEX slumped as much as 388.58 points to an intraday low of 82,925.35, while the NIFTY50 touched the session’s low of 25,491.90.

At 12:40 PM, the S&P BSE SENSEX fell by 201.73 points, or 0.24%, to 83,112.20. NSE’s NIFTY50 was trading at 25,557.50, reflecting an 85.30 points, or 0.33% decline.

On Thursday, the foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold stocks worth ₹2,150.51 crore, while the domestic institutional investors (DIIs) purchased equities worth ₹1,129.82 crore on a net basis, according to exchange data.

The top losers of the NIFTY50 index included Tech Mahindra (-2.30%), HDFC Life Insurance Company (-2.12%), Tata Consultancy Services (-2.09%), Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (-1.93%) and SBI Life Insurance Company (-1.86%).

On the contrary, ITC (4.85%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (3.06%), Bharti Airtel (1.63%), Bajaj Finance (1.28%) and Hindustan Unilever (1.02%) were among the top gainers.

Rate-sensitive stocks
Rate-sensitive stocks, including real estate, banking, financial services, and auto sector shares, were trading in the red on Friday, February 6, as RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC), headed by Governor Sanjay Malhotra, unanimously decided to keep repo rate unchanged at 5.25% and maintained its neutral policy stance at the conclusion of last monetary policy meeting of the current financial year.
Hitachi Energy
Shares of Hitachi Energy India rallied as much as 14.01% to an intraday high of ₹21,889 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, February 6, after the company released its earnings for the December FY26 quarter.

It reported a 90.3% jump in after-tax profit to ₹261.4 crore for the three months ended December 2025, supported by higher revenues compared to ₹137.4 crore in the year-ago period.

Its revenue from operations climbed 28.51% to ₹2,082.21 crore in Q3 FY26, compared to ₹1,620.27 crore in the third quarter of the preceding 2024-25 financial year.

Nykaa

The company posted a net profit of ₹68 crore for the quarter ending December 2025, up by 156% YoY. It reported a net profit of ₹28 crore for the same quarter in the year-ago period. After adjusting for the one-time impact of labour codes, the net profit stood at ₹78 crore.

Its net revenue jumped 27% YoY to ₹2,873 crore on the back of 28% YoY jump in the GMV at ₹5,795 crore.

Bharti Hexacom

Bharti Hexacom shares surged 6.24% to an intraday high of ₹1,729 apiece on the NSE, as its net profit grew 81.5% YoY to ₹473.7 crore in Q3FY26, compared to ₹261 crore it clocked in the year-ago period.

Its revenue from operations rose nearly 5% YoY to ₹2,359.8 crore during the quarter under review, as against ₹2,250.7 crore in the third quarter of FY25.

Data Patterns

The stock of Data Patterns soared 9.32% to ₹2,758.90 per equity share on the NSE, a day after it reported a 30.54% YoY increase in its net profit to ₹58.30 crore in the December quarter of the current fiscal year.

Its revenue from operations grew 47,92% YoY to ₹173.13 crore during the quarter under review, it said in a regulatory filing on Thursday.

Life Insurance Corporation Of India
Shares of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) gained nearly 8% to hit an intraday high of ₹905 apiece, as it posted a 17.46% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its consolidated net profit to ₹12,930.44 crore in the reporting quarter.

In the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, it logged a profit of ₹11,008.65 crore, the country’s largest insurer said in a regulatory filing.

Its net premium income increased 17.76% YoY to ₹1.26 lakh crore for Q3FY26, compared to ₹1.07 lakh crore in the December quarter of FY25.
