The Indian benchmark indices resumed the correction on Friday morning, after a smart but short recovery on Thursday. The NIFTY50 index dropped 200 points on Friday, hitting an intraday low of 23,231. The NIFTY Midcap 100 and smallcap 100 posted a sharp bounce back of over 1% on Friday from the intraday lows. The total market breadth went in favour of declines, with over 2065 stocks trading in the red and 1,452 stocks trading in the green out of the 3,667 traded on Friday.
The recently listed companies continued to find investor traction despite the broader weakness, as shares of ESDS and Milky Mist were locked in the upper circuit on Friday. Similarly, 150 stocks made fresh 52-week highs and 138 hit new 52-week lows.
Here are the top five stocks that made fresh 52-week highs
Shares one of India’s leading fintech platform, Paytm surged over 3% hitting 52-week high levels on Friday despite the weak broader sentiment. The shares have surged over 38% in 2026 on a YTD basis and over 48% in the past twelve months. The shares have consistently seen domestic institutional buying for the past few quarters as the DIIs increased their stake from 15.8% in Q1FY26 to 24.8% in Q1FY27. On the flip side, FIIs and the retail public investors pared their stake during the same period.
Laurus Labs share price jumped over 1% on Friday afternoon, hitting 52-week high level of ₹1,973 apiece on the NSE. Shares of this API maker and leading biotechnology player have surged over 77% in 2026 on a YTD basis and more than doubled in the past tweleve months. The sharp rally was primarily driven by robust turnaround in financials as company’s net profit for the quarter gone by more than doubled to ₹362 crore as compared to ₹162 crore. Consequently, the FIIs increased their stake from 25.7% in Q1FY26 to 28% in Q1FY27.
Shares of Chennai Petroleum Products surged to new 52-week high on Friday at ₹1,677 apiece on the NSE amid elevated crude oil prices. Elevated crude oil prices give short-term benefit for refiners like Chennai Petroleum due to higher inventory gains and refined expanding margins. In 2026, shares have soared over 87% on a YTD basis and more than doubled in the trailing twelve months.
Shares of leading textile to realty diversified major have run up 56% in the past month to hit fresh 52-week high on Friday. The shares surged over 15% to hit 52-week high levels of ₹1,024 apiece on the NSE amid continued optimism around its preferential fund raising worth ₹214 crore. The shares have surged over 131% in 2026 on a YTD basis and 59% in the past twelve months.
