The company said through its exchange filing that, “You are kindly informed that in view of the continuous sustained increase in input costs, the company has decided to increase the prices on selected models by up to ₹20,000. This increase in prices will come into effect in September 2026”.

This is the second price hike taken by the company in FY27 as it grapples with higher raw-material costs.

In Q1FY27, the company’s raw material costs jumped over 600 bps to 80.5% as compared to 74.5% in the same period last year, resulting in a contraction in operating margins for the company.

The price hike comes ahead of the festive season starting mid of September. The price rise also comes against the backdrop of strong volume growth in August at 40% YoY growth. The company sold 2.21 lakh units in August 2026 as compared to 1.58 lakh units in August 2025.

The utility segment witnessed the highest growth at 97,922 units, up 67% YoY from 58,587 units in the same period last year. Meanwhile, the budget passenger vehicle segment saw a 25% increase in August to 107,400 units, up from 85,408 units in the same month last year.

Maruti Suzuki share price performance

Despite the strong volume growth, the company’s share price performance has remained subdued throughout 2026. Since the start of the year, the share price has delivered -25% returns and -14% in the past twelve months.

Q1FY27 performance

In the quarter gone by, the company’s total volume growth remained robust at 29% YoY. Similarly, the net sales for the quarter also jumped 36.4% YoY to ₹49,959 crore as compared to ₹36,602 crore. However, owing to higher input costs, the company’s operating EBITDA (Earnings before interest and taxes, depreciation and amortization) fell 6.7% YoY to ₹4,311 crore as compared to ₹4,602 crore. Consequently, the company’s net profit for the quarter fell 10.8% YoY to ₹3352 crore as compared to ₹3,758 crore in the same period last year.
