JSW Steel reports 3% jump in crude steel production to 24.65 lakh tonnes in Aug; key details to know

JSW Steel share price: Shares of the country’s largest steel producer, JSW Steel, are expected to be in the spotlight on Monday, September 7, as it reported its consolidation crude steel production for the month on August.

The company saw its consolidated crude steel production rising 3% year-on-year (YoY) to stand at 24.65 lakh tonnes in August 2026, compared with a production of 23.82 lakh tonnes in the same month of the preceding year.

According to a regulatory filing dated Saturday, September 5, JSW Steel said that its capacity utilisation for its Indian operations stood at 88% in August of the current calendar year.

Furthermore, the JSW group company’s crude steel production for its Indian operations advanced 4% YoY to 23.87 lakh tonnes during the month under review, as against 22.95 lakh tonnes in August 2025.

However, at JSW Steel USA – Ohio, the firm recorded crude steel production of 0.78 lakh tonnes in August 2026, marking an 11% YoY decline from 0.88 lakh tonnes in the year-ago period.

JSW Steel Q1 results

JSW Steel, saw its net profit more than double to ₹4,651 crore in April-June quarter of the 2026-27 financial year (Q1 FY27), compared with ₹2,184 crore in the same period last year.

The Mumbai-based company's total revenue from operations advanced 10% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹47,364 crore in the first quarter of current financial year from ₹43,147 crore in the year-ago period.

JSW Steel reported strong operational performance as its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) came in at ₹9,383 crore at the end of June quarter, up 24% from ₹7,576 crore in the corresponding period last financial year.

Its EBITDA margin improved by 230 basis points to 19.81%.

JSW Steel stock performance

Shares of JSW Steel closed 1.30% higher at ₹1,325 per unit on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Friday, September 4. However, the monthly update was reported on Saturday.

The scrip has lost nearly 1% in the past week but gained 2% over the month. On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, it has surged 13%.

While the stock hit a 52-week high of ₹1,351 per equity share on August 27, 2026, it touched a year’s low of ₹1,040 apiece on September 3, 2025.
