This follows the company’s board of directors appointing Akhil Gupta as Chairperson and a Non-Executive Independent Director, according to a regulatory filing late last night.

Gupta’s appointment will come into effect on September 29, 2026, with a period of service of five years, the filing added.

With over 40 years of experience, Gupta formerly served as the Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, Coforge said, adding that he played a “pivotal role in Bharti’s growth right since inception”.

Gupta is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of 360 ONE WAM Ltd and Bharti Life Insurance Ltd. He is also a member of the Board of Zepto, Snapdeal, Eutelsat Communications and Lodha Developers, the company further stated.

Commenting on the appointment, Vivek Sharma, Non-Executive Director and interim Chairperson of Coforge, said: “We are very excited to onboard an exceptional candidate as the Chairperson of Coforge. We ran a very rigorous and intense global search process in partnership with Egon Zehnder, with a focus on finding a candidate with the highest governance experience, professional expertise, and strategic perspectives - criteria that I had shared earlier at our investor meeting.”

Sharma further added that a starting list of 60 candidates was whittled down over time for the position of Chairperson, and Akhil Gupta emerged as the unanimous choice of all members of the NRC and the Board.

“I wish to thank my fellow Board members for working across the weekends and time zones to ensure that this important mandate had their complete support and involvement. We worked assiduously to ensure that all aspects of NRC and Board processes were complied with as we assessed an exceptional palette of candidates,” Sharma stated.

Sudhir Singh, CEO and Executive Director of Coforge, said that Gupta was instrumental in Bharti Enterprises successfully navigating multiple business shifts during his watch and association with Bharti Enterprises.

“As our industry, in turn, navigates the AI-led era and as Coforge pivots towards making the promise of AI real for enterprises, we welcome Mr. Gupta as he steps onto the Board. We are excited about the immense opportunities ahead of us and thrilled to have a person of his calibre and governance experience join us as the Chairperson of the Board,” Singh added.
