Bharat Coking Coal share price opens 3% lower after Q4 net profit drops nearly 60% YoY

Shares of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd opened 3% lower at ₹34.6 apiece after the company announced its quarterly and FY26 earnings on Wednesday night. Ahead of the result announcement, the shares closed 0.8% lower on Wednesday. Along with the quarterly earnings, the company also announced a price revision in washed coking coal.

Q4FY26 results

The company’s revenue from operations dropped by 15% YoY to ₹3,282 crore for Q4FY26 as compared to ₹3,865 crore. The company’s total output during the quarter decreased by nearly 5% at 10.87 million tonnes compared to 11.4 million tonnes. The overall net sales for the quarter fell 7.5% to ₹3,839 crore.

On the operational front, the company’s EBITDA for the quarter dropped by 36.2% at ₹221 crore as compared to ₹347.5 crore. This was primarily due to weak realisation and steady expenses. The EBITDA margin for the quarter also fell from 8.3% in the previous year’s same quarter to 5.7% in Q4FY26.

On the bottom line front, the net profit for the quarter dropped 59.1% at ₹27 crore due to a weak operating performance of ₹ 66.5 crore.

For the financial year 2025-26, the company’s revenue dropped 14.2% YoY to ₹13,644 crore as compared to ₹15,917 crore. The total output fell from 40.5 million tonnes in FY25 to 35.5 million tonnes in FY26. Similarly, the total offtake for the quarter also dropped from 38 million tonnes to 33 million tonnes in FY26.

After listing at nearly 80% premium to the issue price, the Bharat Coking Coal shares plunged nearly 33% from the 52-week high level of ₹45 in the recent market correction. The shares since then have jumped nearly 20% to trade at ₹36 per share till April 22. The shares continue to trade with a nearly 43% premium to their issue price of ₹23 per share.
