Stock market holiday on March 26: NSE, BSE to remain closed on Thursday for Ram Navami; check details

While the MCX will be closed for its morning session from 9 am to 5 pm on Thursday, March 26, it will reopen for its evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.

Stock Market holiday on March 26: The Indian stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE, will be closed on Thursday, March 25, on the occasion of Shri Ram Navami.

Ram Navami is a major Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Rama.

The bourses will resume trading on Friday, March 25.

Trading holidays in March 2026

The stock market observed a trading holiday on March 3 on the occasion of Holi.

Along with the trading holiday on Thursday, March 26, the bourses will also remain closed on Tuesday, March 31, on account of Shri Mahavir Jayanti.

Stock market holidays in April

In the month of April, the stock market will remain closed on two days (excluding weekends), including April 3 and April 14.

The bourses will observe a trading holiday on Friday, April 3, on account of Good Friday, and on Tuesday, April 14, on the occasion of Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

In May, trading holidays fall on two days. The exchanges will remain closed on Friday, May 1, on account of Maharashtra Day and Thursday, May 28, for Bakri Id.

Will MCX be open or closed on March 26?

Furthermore, the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) will observe partial closure on March 26.

While the domestic commodity exchange will be closed for its morning session from 9 am to 5 pm, it will reopen for its evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm. The MCX will also observe a partial holiday on March 31.

Bank holidays on March 26

Banks in some Indian states will observe a holiday on Thursday, March 26, to celebrate Ram Navami.

The states include Maharashtra, Gujarat, Mizoram, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Himachal Pradesh.

Banks in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Sikkim, Bihar, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will observe a holiday on Friday, March 27, as Ram Navami is observed locally in some regions.

Furthermore, banks across India will remain closed on March 28, which is the fourth Saturday.
