Stock Market Holiday on April 3: The Indian stock exchanges, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE, will remain closed on April 3, on the occasion of Good Friday, marking the second trading holiday this week.

Both the bourses will be also remain closed for all trading operations on Tuesday, April 14, on account of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.

Ambedkar Jayanti commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, and social reformer.

Trading holidays in May 2026

In May trading holidays fall on two days. The exchanges will remain closed on Friday, May 1, on account of Maharashtra Day and Thursday, May 28, for Bakri Id.

The bourses will remain shut on Friday, June 26, for Muharram.

The NSE and BSE observed a holiday on Tuesday, March 31, earlier this week on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.

Is MCX open or closed on Good Friday?

Furthermore, the Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also remain fully closed on April 3 for Good Friday.

On March 31, the domestic commodity exchange had observed a partial holiday, as it remained closed for its morning session from 9 am to 5 pm, but resumed trading for its evening session from 5 pm to 11:30/11:55 pm.

Bank holiday on Good Friday

Banks across all the major Indian cities, except Agartala, Guwahati, Jaipur, Jammu, and Srinagar, will observe a holiday on April 3 for Good Friday.

Furthermore, bank branches in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram are shut on April 2 on account of Maundy Thursday.
