The move marks a milestone step in expanding market access for international investors and trading participants. The extended trading window, with the overall market open from 3:15 AM IST and closing at 2:45 AM IST the following day, is aimed at providing market participants with greater flexibility to access markets across Asian, European and American trading hours.

With the launch, NSEIX sets a new global benchmark to provide a continuous market for nearly 24/5 hours to market participants.

Further, this also strengthens GIFT City’s role as an international financial centre connecting India with global capital markets. The near round-the-clock market supports participants seeking to respond to international developments and manage market exposure across global time zones.

“The extension to 23.5-hour trading at NSEIX is an important milestone in our endeavour to create a globally accessible marketplace from GIFT City. By enabling market access across all time zones, we are providing participants with greater flexibility and strengthening GIFT City’s connectivity with global financial markets,” said V. Balasubramaniam, MD & CEO, NSEIX.

The initiative reinforces NSEIX’s focus on global accessibility, technology-led market infrastructure and an efficient international trading ecosystem from GIFT City, it said in a statement.

The Exchange also said that its advanced technology enables rapid system maintenance and updates, with maintenance completed within 3 minutes between sessions and in less than 15 minutes at the end of the day.

Balasubramaniam added that NSEIX will continue to focus on expanding international market access and building robust market infrastructure aligned with the evolving requirements of global participants.
