Stock market to be open on Sunday, February 1, on account of Union Budget 2026

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will conduct a live trading session on February 1, 2026, as per the standard market timings, the NSE said in a circular on Friday.

Budget 2026: The Indian bourses, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the BSE, have announced that the equity market will be open for trading on Sunday, February 1, as the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the 2026-27 Union Budget on that day.

"On account of the presentation of the Union Budget, members are requested to note that Exchange shall be conducting a live trading session on February 01, 2026, as per the standard market timings," the NSE said in a circular on Friday.

The timings will remain the same, with a pre-market session from 9 am to 9:08 am, and the normal market session from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.

"Further, Members are requested to note that “T0” session shall not be scheduled for trading on 01-Feb-2026 due to settlement holiday," it added.

As per the NSE, other session timings are as follows:

Besides the capital market, the futures and options (F&O) and commodity derivatives segments will also remain open on Sunday, "as per standard market timings."

2026 stock market holidays

In 2026, the stock market will remain closed for 16 days, including the holiday the bourses declared for January 15 on account of municipal corporation elections in Maharashtra.

Four holidays, Mahashivratri, Id-UL-Fitr (Ramadan Eid), Independence Day and Diwali Laxmi Pujan, are falling on Saturdays and Sundays in 2026. Muhurat Trading will take place on Sunday, November 8, on the occasion of Diwali Laxmi Puja.
