Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, or HCCB, the Indian bottling unit of The Coca-Cola Company, is planning for a $1 billion initial public offering (IPO), Bloomberg reported citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, the company recently met few bankers to discuss regarding HCCB IPO. The talks are still in early stages.

Deliberations are underway, according to Bloomberg, on the timing, size, and structure of the public offering.

Earlier this year, HCCB had appointed Hemant Rupani as its chief executive officer (CEO), effective September 8. He was previously associated with Mondelez International Inc, PepsiCo, Vodafone and Britannia Industries.

Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), a leading FMCG company, was incorporated on February 14, 1997. It is the largest Coca-Cola bottler in India. According to the company's website, it serves more than 20 lakh retailers, 2,000 distributors, and 5,200 employees.

With 14 factories across India, the Bangalore-headquartered firm's operations are spread in 12 states. Its products include Coca-Cola, Sprite, Minute Maid, Thums Up, Maaza, Kinley, Limca, Fanta, and SmartWater, among others.

The Coca-Cola Company is a total beverage firmwith products sold in over 200 countries and territories.

In the financial year 2023-24, the company reported a three-fold increase in its net profit to ₹2,808.31 crore. Revenue from operations also advanced 10.10% to ₹14,021.54 crore.

The total income was up 10.77% to ₹14,236.18 crore in FY24, while total expenses stood at ₹13,044.50 crore.

In FY24, total tax expense was up over fourfold to ₹910.07 crore in FY24 as against ₹204.32 crore a year ago.

HCCBL's profit before tax (PAT) was at ₹3,718.38 crore, up threefold year on year.

In FY24, HCCBL's expenses on 'advertising and sales promotion' rose 69.21% to ₹108.11 crore. Its 'inventory losses and leakages' were also up 25.4% to ₹94.07 crore.
