Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd on Monday, August 4, reported an 11.97% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its consolidated net profit to ₹125 crore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q1FY26). In the corresponding period a year ago, it had clocked a net profit of ₹142 crore.

The auto component manufacturer’s revenue from operations fell 4.15% YoY to ₹854 crore during the quarter under review, compared to ₹891 crore in the June quarter of FY25, it said in a regulatory filing.

The company’s battery electric vehicles (BEV) revenue stood at ₹202.5 crore in the first quarter of FY26, falling 25% YoY from ₹210.6 crore in Q1FY25. Furthermore, the BEV segment contributed 28% to the revenue.

At an operational level, the firm’s EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation) slumped 8.95% YoY to ₹205 crore in Q1FY26, as against ₹250 crore in the year-ago period.

Its EBITDA margin contracted to 24% during the quarter, from 28.06% in the first quarter of FY25.

Commenting on the earnings, Vivek Vikram Singh, MD and Group CEO of Sona BLW, said: "Q1 FY26 was a challenging quarter for us due to the convergence of multiple adverse factors, which are temporary, and some have started to resolve already. We ended the quarter with a few large order wins, closing the quarter with an all-time high net order book. We have received a large order from a North American OEM to supply differential assemblies. This is our largest order win in the last two and a half years. We believe this is likely to be one of the most significant and successful EV launches in many years.”

During the reporting quarter, the mobility tech firm added two new EV programs, bringing the total number of awarded programs to 60 across 32 customers, the company said.

Its EV programs contribute 75% to the net order book, which was worth ₹26,200 billion as of June 30, 2025.

“We have strengthened our position as the leading supplier of drive motors for electric two- and three-wheelers in India by securing another order from our existing customer for their upcoming electric three-wheelers. We have recently signed a term sheet with JNT to form a JV in China. This JV marks a significant step in our strategy to expand into the rapidly growing Asian markets. With a robust order book already in place, we expect operations to commence later this year,” Sing added.

Shares of Sona BLW Precision closed 1.25% higher at ₹443 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Monday. However, the results were declared after the market closed.
