India's largest public sector lender, State Bank of India's net interest income (NII) or income from its core operations are expected to record 7-9% YoY growth to the range of ₹46,150 to ₹46,950 crore fuelled by healthy growth in loan books, according to market experts.

SBI earned a net interest income of ₹42,775 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year, and a ₹45,190 crore NII in the third quarter of FY2025-26.

Market experts also indicated that SBI's net interest margin (NIM) is likely to drop around 8-9 basis points to 2.7% due to an increase in the cost of funds and the recent repo rate cut by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

State Bank of India shares were trading 0.54% lower at ₹1,086.10 during the early market session on Friday, May 8, ahead of the lender's Q4 results announcement, compared to ₹1,092 at the previous market close, according to NSE data.

Pidilite share price surged 4.5% after the opening bell on Friday, May 8, to hit the intraday high of ₹1,515.70 in the early market hours after the company posted a 36.63% YoY rise in consolidated net profits to ₹584.15 crore in the March quarter, compared with ₹427.52 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

The volume growth and healthy operating margins supported Pidilite Industries' positive results in the January to March quarter.

Electrical equipment maker, Thermax shares jumped 8.5% to hit their intraday high of ₹4,539.60 after the opening bell on Friday, May 8, as the investors reacted positively to the 19% rise in its consolidated net profits to ₹244 crore in the fourth quarter, compared YoY with ₹205 crore in the same period a year ago.

Britannia shares dropped 5% to hit the intraday low of ₹5,524 during the early market hours on Friday, May 8, as investors reacted to the company's earnings release. The FMCG stock announced its Q4 results after market operating hours on Thursday.

Market experts indicate that State Bank of India's standalone net profits are likely to rise in the range of 4-7% year-on-year to ₹19,450 and ₹20,050 crore in the Q4 results for the year ended 2025-26, compared with a ₹18,643 crore in the fourth quarter of the previous financial year.

However, the public sector bank's net profits on a sequential basis are expected to remain flat as SBI posted net profit of ₹21,028 crore in the previous quarter largely due to lower treasury income.

Quarter results of SBI among other firms will remain the key focus of investors on Friday, May 8.

Shares of BSE, Pidilite Industries, Dabur India, Lupin Ltd, Britannia Industries, Coromandel International, V-Mart Retail, Westlife Foodworld, Thermax, Gateway Distriparks, and Ceigall India are expected to react on Friday's stock market after their earnings release post the market operating hours on Thursday.

Companies like State Bank of India, Hyundai Motor India, Urban Company, Bank of Baroda, Swiggy, Bank of India, JSW Infra, Kalyan Jewellers, Niva Bupa Health Insurance, Shipping Corporation of India, Tata Consumer Products, Titan, and Ujjivan Small Finance Bank are among 45 firms which are set to release their fourth quarter results for the financial year ended 2025-26 on Friday, May 8.
