Jindal Steel & Power Ltd on Tuesday, August 12, reported an 11.49% year-on-year (YoY) surge in its consolidated net profit to ₹1,494 crore in the first quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q1FY26), compared to a profit of ₹1,340 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

Its revenue from operations stood at ₹12,294 crore during the quarter under review, marking a 92.79% YoY increase from ₹6,377 crore in the first quarter of FY25.

At an operational level, its EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation) rose 5.4% YoY to ₹2,984 crore during the June quarter of FY26, as against ₹2,831 crore in the year-ago period.

Its crude steel production rose 2% YoY to 2.09 million tonnes (MT) during the reporting quarter, in contrast to 2.05 MT it produced in Q4FY25.

The company’s sales fell 9% YoY to 1.9 MT in Q1FY26, compared to 2.09 MT in the June quarter of FY25, with domestic sales standing at 1.78 MT, also marking a 9% YoY slip from 1.95 MT in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year. Its exports declined 8% YoY to 0.14 MT in the June FY25 quarter, from 0.15 MT in Q1FY25.

During the quarter, the steel manufacturer’s liquidity stood at ₹4,189 crore.

Jindal Steel stock performance

Shares of Jindal Steel closed 0.23% higher at ₹993.25 apiece on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday. However, the earnings were announced after the markets closed.

The stock gained 3.02% over the previous week and 6.03% since the beginning of August. It soared 3.22% in the first quarter of FY25 and 7.28% on a year-to-date basis.

While the scrip reached a 52-week low of ₹723.35 on January 31, 2025, it hit a year’s high of ₹1,073.70 per equity share on September 17, 2024.

Jindal Steel and Power has a total market capitalisation of ₹1.01 lakh crore, as of August 12, 2025, as per data on the NSE.
