ICICI Lombard GIC Q3 earnings: Net profit falls 9%, net premium earned grows to ₹5,685 crore YoY

ICICI Lombard General Insurance Company reported a 9% year-on-year (YoY) decline in its net profit to ₹659 crore in the third quarter of the 2025-26 financial year (Q3 FY26), compared to ₹724 crore it clocked in the year-ago period.

The company’s net total income stood at ₹6,610 crore in the quarter under review, improving 12.3% YoY from ₹5,883 crore in the December quarter of FY25. 

The insurance company’s net premium earned grew 12.6% to ₹5,685 crore in Q3 FY26 as against ₹5,045 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. Its gross premium came in at ₹7,433 crore, rising 15% YoY from ₹6,474 crore.

The combined ratio was at 104.5% in Q3 FY26 compared to 102.7% in Q3 FY25. The combined ratio in insurance measures an insurer's underwriting profitability by adding incurred losses (claims) and expenses, then dividing by earned premiums.

Return on average equity (RoAE) on a 1/n basis declined to 16.5% in Q3 FY2026 from 21.5% in Q3 FY2025.

ICICI Lombard said the company’s gross direct premium income (GDPI) on a 1/n basis stood at ₹7,041 crore in Q3 FY26, up 13.3% from ₹6,214 crore in Q3 FY25, outperforming the industry growth of 11.5%. Excluding crop and mass health segments, the insurer added that its GDPI growth was 16.4% during the quarter, compared with the industry growth of 20.1% in Q3 FY26.

For the nine months ended December 31, the GDPI stood at ₹21,372 crore compared to ₹20,623 crore, a growth of 3.6%.

Profit after tax (PAT) on a 1/n basis grew by 11.3% to ₹ 2,225 crore in nine months on December 31, 2025, as compared to ₹ 1,999 crore in 9M FY25.

On Tuesday, ICICI Lombard shares settled at ₹1,890.5 apiece on NSE, declining 1.04%. The earnings, however, came after the market hours.

In the last five trading sessions, the stock have lost more than 6%, while in a month’s time, they have fallen 3%. On a year-on-year basis, ICICI Lombard GIC shares have gained 3%. The company has a total market capitalisation of ₹94,158.32 crore.

Shares of the firm had touched their one-year high of ₹2,068.7 apiece on July 1, 2025, while their 52-week low of ₹1,613.70 was hit on March 4, 2025.
