Vedanta Group-owned company Hindustan Zinc’s board of directors announced their April to June quarter of the financial year 2026-27 on Friday, July 24, where the mining company posted a strong Q1 financial performance due to a healthy rise in revenues for the period.
Shares of Hindustan Zinc surged to their intraday high of ₹534.40 during Friday’s market, after trading in the negative territory for the entire day, according to NSE data. The company announced its Q1 results during the final hour of trading on July 24.
At 3 pm, the company’s stock was trading flat at ₹531.10, compared to ₹531.15 at the previous stock market close, as per the exchange data. Hindustan Zinc shares closed 0.47% higher at ₹533.65 per share.
NSE filings showed that Hindustan Zinc posted a 145% rise in its consolidated net profit to ₹5,469 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2026-27, in comparison to ₹2,234 crore in the same period a year earlier.
The surge in net profit comes after a healthy growth in revenues from core operations, to the tune of 77% in the June quarter to ₹13,747 crore in the current fiscal year, compared with ₹7,771 crore in the same period a year ago.
On the margins front, the mining company’s operating margins expanded to 52%, from 38% a year earlier. The filings also showed that the company’s profit margin surged to 40% in the Q1 results, from 29% a year earlier.
Hindustan Zinc’s board of directors, in its quarterly board meeting on Friday, approved and appointed Amarendu Prakash as the new CEO and whole-time director of the company, according to an exchange filing.
Amarendu Prakash’s appointment will come into effect from August 1, 2026, subject to the approval of the company shareholders.
The firm also appointed Amit Gupta as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Aashhima V Khanna as the Company Secretary and Compliance Officer.
Hindustan Zinc is a mining company which produces zinc, lead, and silver, among other key earth minerals.
The NSE filings data further showed that Hindustan Zinc’s ‘zinc, lead, and other mineral’ production business recorded a 49.5% year-on-year growth in revenue to ₹9,146 crore, from ₹6,116 crore in the same period a year earlier.
According to the consolidated financial statements, the company’s ‘silver’ production business revenues skyrocketed 169% to ₹3,839 crore in the June quarter of the financial year 2026-27, compared with ₹1,426 crore a year earlier.
Hindustan Zinc’s revenues from Wind Energy were at ₹48 crore in the June quarter, down from ₹49 crore in the same period a year earlier.
Hindustan Zinc shares have delivered more than 61% returns on their investments in the last five years, over 68% gains in the last three years, and more than 19% returns to their investors in the past one-year period, according to NSE data.
However, on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the company shares have lost 13% and were down nearly 2% in the past one-month period, as per the exchange data. Hindustan Zinc shares were trading 2.6% higher in the last five market sessions on NSE.
Shares of the company surged to their 52-week high of 733 on January 27, 2026, while the 52-week low was at ₹413.50 on August 1, 2025.
The company’s market capitalisation (m-cap) was at over ₹2.25 lakh crore as of the stock market close on Friday, July 24, 2026.
