HDFC Life reports muted net profit growth for Q3FY26; net premium grew by 8.7% YoY

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance will remain in focus after the company announced its Q3FY26 results on Thursday evening. The net profit for the quarter jumped 7% YoY on 9MFY26, while overall business growth remained stable for the quarter.

The net premium income for the quarter jumped 8.7% YoY to ₹18,242 crore as against ₹16,777 crore. The new business premium for 9MFY26 jumped 11% YoY to ₹11,287 crore, largely attributable to retail insurance, which grew by 42% YoY.

On a 9MFY26 basis, the net profit for the company jumped 7% YoY to ₹1,414 crore, while quarterly net profit stood at ₹442 crore for Q3FY26 vs ₹444 crore in the same period last year.

The customer loyalty also remained strong, as the 13-month persistency stood at 85%, while 61st month persistency stood at 63%. The company’s market share expanded by 20bps to 10.9%

The solvency ratio for 9MFY26 stood at 180%, well above the government’s mandate of 150%, but slightly lower than 188% of 9MFY25. The overall assets under management stood at ₹5.3 trillion, including the pension fund.

HDFC Life shares have delivered strong returns of 25% as compared to 10.5% returns by NIFTY50 in the one year period.
