Adani Ports Q2 revenue and net profit expectations

According to experts, Adani Ports could report a 20% to 22% YoY rise in revenue to between ₹10,950 crore and ₹11,210 crore, driven by solid domestic demand and tariff hikes. The company reported revenue of ₹10,821 crore in the previous quarter and ₹9,167 crore in the September quarter of FY26.

Net profit is likely to rise 27% to 30% YoY to between ₹3,950 crore and ₹4,050 crore. That would also be a 9% to 12% increase over the previous quarter. Adani Ports reported a net profit of ₹3,620 crore in the previous quarter and ₹3,109 crore in the same quarter last year.

Investors will look for management commentary on the overall business outlook, the impact of the West Asia crisis on the business, and EBITDA guidance.

Ahead of the Q2 results, Adani Ports shares closed 0.1% higher at ₹1,754.5 on NSE on Tuesday, October 27. So far this year, the stock has gained over 32%, significantly outperforming the NIFTY50 index on the back of strong operational performance.

Adani Ports share price: technical outlook ahead of Q2 results

Adani Ports goes into its results with no clear direction on the daily chart. After hitting a high of ₹1,891 in early July, the stock fell to about ₹1,595 at the start of September. It recovered quickly and has since traded in a range of roughly ₹1,682 to ₹1,830. Over the past few weeks this range has narrowed further, with the stock moving mostly between ₹1,700 and ₹1,790.

It is trading just below both its 20-day EMA and 50-day EMA. The two averages are now almost level and running flat. The stock has been crossing back and forth around them for the past month. Meanwhile, the Directional Movement Index (DMI) gives sellers a slight edge and the ADX has edged up to 21.3. This suggests some selling pressure is building, but it is not yet strong.

Adani Ports options: the range the market expects

The October contracts have expired, so the November contracts, expiring on November 23, are the ones that matter for the Q2 results. This means the options market expects a move of about ±5.6% by the November expiry, which puts the expected range at roughly ₹1,647 to ₹1,841.

Adani Ports has usually reacted calmly on the first day after its results. In the last nine quarters, the next-day move never went beyond 4.2%, and in eight of those quarters it stayed within about ±3%. The larger moves have come over the following days. The stock moved more than 5.6% within 10 days of its results in three of the last nine quarters.

Options strategy for Adani Ports Q2 results

If you expect the stock to stay in its range: A short straddle could be considered. The stock has stayed between ₹1,682 and ₹1,830 since early September. The strategy makes profit if Adani Ports stays between roughly ₹1,641 and ₹1,839 until the November expiry. Option premiums usually fall once the results are out, which helps this trade. However, it must be held for nearly a month, and the stock has made large moves within 10 days of its results in the past, so strict stop-losses are important. Traders can limit the risk by also buying a call and a put further away from the current price.

If you expect a breakout after the results: A long straddle could be considered. Strong cargo growth and the West Asia situation could lead to a surprise on either side, and a break from the narrowing range could carry the stock beyond the expected levels. The strategy makes profit if Adani Ports moves below roughly ₹1,641 or above ₹1,839 by expiry. Since the stock’s bigger moves have usually come a few days after the results, the November contracts allow time for such a move to develop. However, option premiums usually fall after the results, so the move needs to be large for this strategy to work.
