Gold prices advanced for the second day in major Indian cities in early trade on Thursday, October 31, driven by strong festive demand. Gold prices jumped by ₹710 to trade above ₹81,000 per 10 grams in Delhi and Mumbai.
The yellow metal traded at ₹81,320 per 10 grams in Delhi and ₹81,170 per 10 grams in Mumbai.
According to experts, strong demand for gold amid the Diwali festival drove the prices. A pick-up in sales during the Dhanteras festival also boosted the prices. Gold hit record-high levels in global markets in overnight trade, supporting local prices.
The spot gold was trading marginally down at $2,786 an ounce in Asian trade. The metal hit a record high of $2,790 an ounce in overnight trade.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices rose by ₹710 to ₹81,320 per 10 grams and 22K gold by ₹650 to ₹74,560 per 10 grams.
