Gold slips from record high levels in early trade, silver falls for 2nd day
Gold slipped from record-high levels in major Indian cities in early trade on Monday, October 28, ahead of the Dhanteras festival. Gold prices raced ₹830 to hit an all-time high of ₹80,840 per 10 grams in Delhi and ₹80,290 in Mumbai due to heightened geopolitical concerns after Israel attacked Iran’s military establishments on Friday night and the festive demand in local markets.
Gold of 24K purity slipped by ₹10 to ₹89,830 per 10 grams in Delhi and ₹80,280 per 10 grams in Mumbai ahead of Dhanteras on Monday. Prices are expected to stay firm on Dhanteras, which falls on Tuesday, October 29, this year. The day is considered auspicious for buying valuables like jewellery, gold and properties.
On the other hand, Spot gold declined by 0.53% to $2,733.02 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal hit a high of $2,742 in overnight trade following better-than-expected US labour market data.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices dropped by ₹10 to ₹80,830 per 10 grams and 22K gold by ₹10 to ₹73,740 per 10 grams.

Silver prices fell for the second day in major Indian cities in early trade on Monday, slipping by ₹100 after concerns that a spiralling Middle East conflict could impact global growth. On Saturday, they tanked ₹3,900 per kg to ₹98,000.
Silver prices slipped by ₹100 to ₹97,900 per kg in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata on Monday.
Retreating from overnight highs, spot Silver traded lower by 1% at $33.33 an ounce in global markets. The metal hit a high of $33.7 an ounce in overnight trade.

Gold rallied to record highs in domestic markets over the weekend following Israel’s attacks on Iran. Silver, however, tanked ₹3,900 per kg after fresh tensions. Gold started the week on a weak note in early trade Monday following weak global trends. Silver also declined in line with global advice.
