Gold price had breached the ₹77,000 per 10 grams level on Thursday as the yellow metal hit new record highs in global markets. Gold prices gained up to ₹430 to hit a fresh record high of ₹77,450 per 10 gm following the positive trend in the global market. The US stocks closed at record highs on strong economic data, while the Asian markets also extended gains continuing the momentum seen after China’s latest stimulus measures.
Spot gold prices stood at $2666.06 per ounce as US bond yields strengthened, hitting the appeal of the precious metal. The US dollar index also traded near 100.60 level, which reflected the greenback’s strength against leading world currencies.
Meanwhile, In futures trade, gold prices trimmed earlier gains to quote marginally lower at ₹76,146 per 10 grams.
The most active December contract of the precious metal gained over ₹200 to trade near all-time high levels at ₹76,424 per 10 grams in the early session. However, the metal lost momentum in afternoon trade, with the contract slipping by ₹107 or 0.14 % ₹76,146 per 10 grams at 12.15 pm.
Gold prices followed the global trend and continued to remain above ₹77,000 per 10gm mark due to the absence of any major correction in gold in international markets.
In Delhi markets, 24K and 22K gold prices increased to ₹77,600 per 10 grams and ₹71,150 per 10 grams, respectively. Silver prices also rose to ₹96,000 per kg in the national capital.
