Gold and Silver Price Today (January 9): Gold gains ₹130 per 10gm, silver slips in early trade

Gold prices increased by ₹130 per 10 grams in early trade on Thursday, January 9, following the metal’s gain in global markets in overnight trade.

Some demand from jewellers ahead of the marriage season also helped the metal break the three-day lacklustre trend. Gold prices advanced by ₹130 to ₹78,830 per 10 grams in major Indian cities.

Gold rose to month-high levels of $2,670 an ounce in overnight trade after mixed US jobs data and Fed minutes. However, the metal pared some of the gains in early Asian trade.

Spot gold slipped 0.04% to $2,660 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved in a range of $2,656 an ounce to $2,663 an ounce in early trade.

Silver prices slipped by ₹200 to ₹92,400 per kg in major Indian cities on Thursday due to poor offtake from industrial users and coin makers.

The white metal stayed above $30 an ounce levels in global markets despite US jobs data which capped its losses in the domestic markets.

Spot Silver was up 0.04% to $30.12 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved between $30.02 an ounce and $30.18 an ounce in early trade.
