Gold prices slipped from record high levels in early trade on Monday, February 10, as the US dollar rebounded on trade war concerns. Gold prices trading at all-time high levels impacted the retail demand, which weighed on the sentiment.
After trading flat on Friday, gold resumed its upward journey on Saturday rising by up to ₹160 to ₹86,670 per 10 grams in Mumbai, its all-time high, on firm global trends. The 22K gold increased ₹150 to a record high of ₹79,450 per 10 grams.
US President Donald Trump on Friday threatened to impose retaliatory tariffs on more countries by Tuesday or Thursday with immediate effect, which raised fears of trade war.
The US dollar index gained 0.35% to 108.42 in the early Asian trade. The US inflation numbers are set for release this week.
Spot gold gained 0.49% to $2,874 an ounce in early Asian trade on Monday.
