Gold prices slipped in early trade on Monday, March 3, marking the fifth straight day of decline amid worries over trade war and slowing global growth. Weak local demand and sharp losses in the precious metal over the weekend in global markets also hit the sentiment.
Gold regained some ground in early Asian trade in global markets on Monday, which capped losses in the metal.
The 24K gold traded at ₹86,210 per 10 grams and the 22K gold at ₹79,540 per 10 grams in major Indian cities.
The 24K gold fell by ₹220 on Saturday and ₹540 on Friday due to deepening recession fears.
In early Asian trade on Monday, spot gold rose by 0.22% to $2,864 an ounce.

Silver prices fell by ₹100 to ₹96,900 per kg in the early session on Monday due to worries over global demand. Losses in the US dollar and firm global trends in early Asian trade, however, capped its losses.
The white metal had declined by ₹1,000 on Friday after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional 10% duties on China from March.
Spot silver was up by 0.32% at $31.25 an ounce in early Asian Trade on Monday.

Gold continued to decline for the fifth day on Monday due to weak local demand. While a weak dollar supports its prices in the global markets, worries of possible trade war following imposition of tariffs on China from Tuesday (March 4).
Silver prices have also retreated last week due to global demand worries.
