Gold prices declined in early trade on Monday, March 17, due to weak demand from retailers and jewellers. The metal traded near $3,000 an ounce levels in global markets amid trade war worries, which capped its losses in the domestic market.
Gold breached the record $3,000 an ounce mark on Friday in global markets following US recession fears, bullion buying by the Chinese central bank and geopolitical tensions.
The 24K gold dropped ₹10 to ₹89,660 per 10 grams and the 22K gold to ₹82,190 per 10 grams in major Indian cities. Gold prices had dropped by ₹110 per 10 grams on Saturday.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold traded at ₹89,810 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹82,340 per 10 grams, down by ₹10 over the last close.

Silver prices slipped by ₹100 on Monday due to poor offtake by industrial users and coin makers. Silver prices traded at ₹1,02,900 per kg in early trade. The white metal had jumped ₹2,000 to hit an all-time high of ₹1,03,000 per kg in major Indian cities on Saturday. On Monday, spot silver rose by 0.05% to $33.79 an ounce in early Asian trade.
