Gold prices extended gains for the fourth day on Tuesday, March 11, amid trade war worries and a weak US dollar. The precious metal recovered from overnight losses to trade above $2,900 an ounce in the global markets in early trade on Tuesday.
Rise in the international gold prices comes following a sell-off in the US stock markets in yesterday’s trading session. Fear of potential recession due to escalating trade tariffs, and economic uncertainty dragged down equity markets and raised appeal for safe-haven assets like gold.
The 24K gold firmed up to ₹87,830 per 10 grams and the 22K gold to ₹80,510 per 10 grams in major Indian cities. Gold prices gained up to ₹110 per 10 grams on Monday. In early Asian trade on Tuesday, spot gold increased 0.02% to $2,903 an ounce.
