Gold prices edged lower in early trade on Monday, January 27, following a rebound in the US dollar in global markets.
The US dollar gained strength after US President Donald Trump announced imposing 25% tariff on goods from Columbia, which blocked military planes carrying deported migrants. The dollar’s strength hit the gold’s appeal as safe haven.
Gold of 24K traded lower by ₹10 at ₹82,410 per 10 grams in major Indian cities, while 22K gold was quoted at ₹75,540 per 10 grams. Gold prices hit an all-time high of ₹82,420 per 10 grams in Mumbai on Friday following losses in the dollar and rate cut hopes. Spot gold declined by 0.52% to $2,756 an ounce in early Asian trade on Monday.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices edged lower by ₹10 to ₹82,560 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹75,690 per 10 grams. The 24K gold in Mumbai dropped by ₹10 to ₹82,410 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹75,540 per 10 grams.

Silver prices also edged lower by ₹100 to ₹97,400 per kg in major Indian cities on Monday in line with gold prices.
A strong dollar and uncertainty around US trade policy hit the white metal’s safe haven demand.
Spot silver dropped 1.18% to $30.24 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved between $30.15 and $30.62 an ounce in early trade.

Gold prices slipped from record-high levels on Monday due to a strong dollar. The precious metal hit an all-time high on Friday as weak dollar and rate cut hopes bolstered bulls.
Silver prices also started the week on a losing note due to weak global trends. Improved supplies and expectation of weak investment demand kept the white metal prices in a range last week.
