Gold and Silver price on January 20: Precious metals trade lower ahead of Donald Trump swearing-in

Gold prices slipped in early trade on Monday, starting the week on a poor note as investors turned cautious ahead of the Trump administration's inauguration.

The US dollar traded above 109 against a basket of six currencies, triggering selling in the precious metal in early Asian trade. Expectations of tariff hikes by Donald Trump after taking office drove the greenback.

In major Indian cities, the 24K gold slipped by ₹10 to ₹81,100 per 10 grams. The metal declined by ₹160 to ₹81,110 per 10 grams on Saturday. Spot Gold rose declined by 0.22% to $2,695 an ounce in early Asian trade.

In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices gained ₹10 to trade at ₹81,250 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹74,490 per 10 grams. The 24K Gold in Mumbai dropped by ₹10 to ₹81,100 per 10 grams, and 22K gold to ₹74,340 per 10 grams.

Silver Price Today in India (January 20, 2025)

Silver prices declined by ₹100 to ₹96,400 per kg in early Monday trade, in line with weak global trends.

Silver traded flat at ₹96,500 per kg on Saturday, amid caution among investors ahead of the Trump administration's inauguration on Monday.

Spot Silver declined by 0.53% to $30.15 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved between $30.12 and $30.34 an ounce in early trade.
