Gold and silver price on January 16: 24k gold rate around ₹80,230 in Delhi; check prices in your city

Gold prices rose by ₹130 per 10 grams in major Indian cities on Thursday, January 16, as the metal traded at one-month high levels in the global markets after benign US inflation data.

The 24K gold rose by ₹130 to ₹80,080 per 10 grams in the early session, following a correction in US bond yields. Weak domestic demand, however, restricted gains in the metal.

Spot gold rose by 0.1% to $2,699 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal breached $2,700 an ounce level in the early session to hit a one-month high of $2,701 an ounce.

Silver prices rose by ₹100 to ₹93,600 per kilogram in the early session following the white metal’s surge to one-month high levels in the global markets.

A decline in US bond yields in the overnight trade boosted the metal’s appeal. A benign US inflation data bolstered expectations of rate cuts by the US Fed this year.

Spot silver gained 0.33% to $30.68 an ounce in early Asian trade. The metal moved between $30.57 an ounce and $30.77 an ounce in early trade.
