Gold prices edged up to trade at record highs for the second consecutive day on Thursday, led by strong marriage season demand. The precious metal had hit all-time highs in global markets on Wednesday, which also fueled domestic prices.
Gold of 24K rallied ₹1,040 to breach the ₹86,000 mark for the first time and trade at ₹86,240 per 10 grams on Wednesday. The 22K gold variety also breached the ₹79,000 per 10 grams for the first time on Wednesday, hitting ₹79,050 per 10 grams on offtake by retailers and jewellers.
The US dollar index hovered at 107.65 after weak US jobs data. Spot gold gained 0.12% to $2,871 an ounce in early Asian trade on Thursday. Gold hit a record high of $2,882 an ounce in overnight trade Wednesday.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold prices edged up by ₹10 to ₹86,400 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹79,210 per 10 grams. The 24K Gold in Mumbai was up by ₹10 to ₹86,250 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹79,060 per 10 grams.

Silver prices rose by ₹100 to ₹99,600 per kg in early trade on Thursday, fueled by offtake by industrial users and coin makers.
The white metal had rallied by ₹1,000 to 99,500 per kg on Wednesday on firm global trends and losses in the US dollar. Spot silver slipped by 0.16% to $32.26 an ounce in early Asian Trade on Thursday.

Gold prices remained at record high levels for the third day in a row on a correction in the US dollar and uncertainty around the US trade policy under Donald Trump. After Tuesday’s breather, the metal has been rising on local demand and firm global trends.
Silver prices gained on Wednesday following gains in global markets.
