Gold prices slipped in major Indian cities in early trade on Monday, February 24, following weak global trends. The precious metal declined in early Asian trade after the US commented on the possibility of lifting some sanctions against Russia. Investors were also cautious ahead of US PMI data for February.
On Monday, the prices of 24K gold slipped to ₹87,760 per 10 grams and 22K gold to ₹80,440 per 10 grams in Mumbai. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the 24K gold recovered by ₹20 to ₹87,770 per 10 grams. The 22K gold advanced ₹200 to ₹80,450 per 10 grams across major cities in India. In early Asian trade on Monday, Spot Gold dropped by 0.28% to $2,927 an ounce.

Silver prices edged lower by ₹100 to ₹1,00,400 per kg due to weak demand from industrial users. The white metal had recovered by ₹100 on Saturday following a pickup in local demand.
The US dollar dropped in early trade on Monday, which capped losses in the white metal. Spot silver was marginally up by 0.06% at $32.54 an ounce in early Asian Trade on Monday.

Gold started the week on a sluggish note amid easing geopolitical worries. A weak US dollar aids the precious metal, but bulls are resorting to profit-taking near record-high levels. Gold prices recovered on Saturday on the back of marriage season demand. Silver prices moved in a range last week due to weak local demand.
