Gold prices continued to rally for the fifth day on Friday, February 21, hitting a fresh lifetime high in major cities following firm global trends. The precious metal hit record high levels in overnight trade in international markets as US President Donald Trump’s tariff plans and losses in US stock markets fuelled the safe-haven demand.
In early trade, the yellow metal hit a lifetime high of ₹88,050 per 10 grams in Mumbai and other major cities.
The 24K gold had jumped ₹390 to breach ₹88,000 per 10 grams for the first time and closed at ₹88,040 per 10 grams on Thursday. The 22K gold advanced ₹350 to ₹80,700 per 10 grams in Mumbai.
In early Asian trade on Friday, Spot gold rose by 0.22% to $2,946 an ounce. The metal hit an all-time high of $2,955 an ounce on Thursday.
In Delhi markets, 24K gold traded at ₹88,200 per 10 grams and 22K gold at ₹80,860 per 10 grams, up by ₹10.

Silver prices dropped by ₹100 to ₹1,00,400 per kg due to demand slowdown fears. The proposed US tariffs may lead to a global slowdown in demand for metals like silver that are used in renewables and other industries. Spot silver gained 0.17% to $32.98 an ounce in early Asian trade on Friday.

Gold prices rallied for the fifth day on Friday on the back of firm global trends and a weak rupee. The precious metal hit record levels on Thursday breaching the ₹88,000 level for the first time. Trade war worries are expected to drive gold prices further. Silver traded in a range this week as US tariffs are expected to hit its industrial demand.
