Rising for the fourth day, gold prices advanced to a fresh all-time high in early trade on Thursday, February 20, on firm retail demand. The precious metal hit a lifetime high of ₹87,810 per 10 grams in Delhi and other major cities in early trade as the metal traded firm in global markets.

On Wednesday, 24K gold jumped ₹700 to ₹87,650 per 10 grams and 22K gold by ₹650 to ₹80,350 per 10 grams in Mumbai as uncertain US trade policy drove safe-haven demand. The US FOMC meeting minutes indicated that the Federal Reserve would wait for inflation to cool down before reducing rates, while the US tariffs pose risks to inflation.

Gold prices hit a fresh all-time high of $2,947 an ounce in overnight trade despite hawkish FOMC minutes. In early Asian trade on Thursday, Spot gold remained nearly flat at $2,935 an ounce.
