GST collections rise 7.5% to ₹1.95 lakh crore in July 2025

India’s gross GST collections for July 2025 rose by 7.5% year-on-year to ₹1.95 lakh crore, up from ₹1.82 lakh crore in July 2024.

Domestic GST revenue grew 6.7% to ₹1.43 lakh crore, while import-related collections increased by 9.7% to ₹52,712 crore.

Gross GST collections rose by 7.5% year-on-year to over ₹1.95 lakh crore in July, according to data released by the government on Friday.

In July 2024, the gross GST collection stood at ₹1,82,075 crore.

Last month, the GST collection was ₹1.84 lakh crore, while the all-time high of ₹2.37 lakh crore was recorded in April this year.

In July 2025, gross revenues from domestic transactions increased by 6.7% to ₹1.43 lakh crore, compared to ₹1.34 lakh crore in the same month a year ago. GST revenue from imports saw a stronger growth of 9.7%, reaching ₹52,712 crore.

The gross central GST revenues were ₹35,470 crore, state GST revenues came in at ₹44,059 crore, and Integrated GST at ₹1,03,536 crore. Collections from cess stood at ₹12,670 crore.

The total refunds in July were up 66.8% to ₹27,147 crore, compared to ₹16,275 crore in the same month last year. Domestic refunds more than doubled (117.6% increase), while export refunds rose 20%.

Net GST mop-up stood at ₹1.69 lakh crore, registering a modest year-on-year growth of 1.7%. Net domestic revenue was nearly flat at ₹1.26 lakh crore, while net revenue from customs (GST on imports) increased by 7.5% to ₹42,548 crore.

State-wise highlights

Among larger states, Madhya Pradesh registered a strong 18% increase in collections, followed by Bihar (16%), Andhra Pradesh (14%), and West Bengal (12%). Meanwhile, Manipur, Mizoram, and Jharkhand reported declines of -36%, -21%, and -3%, respectively.

Maharashtra remained the top contributor with over ₹30,590 crore in collections, followed by Karnataka with ₹13,967 crore and Gujarat with ₹11,358 crore.

For the fiscal year so far (April–July 2025), total gross GST revenue has grown 10.7% to ₹8,18,099 crore, compared to ₹7,38,894 crore during the same period in the previous year. Net GST revenue for the same period rose by 8.4%, reaching ₹7,11,128 crore.
