Blinkit starts 10-minute ambulance service in select areas of Gurugram

Blinkit has introduced a 10-minute ambulance service in select areas of Gurugram, the quick-commerce platform announced on Thursday, marking its entry into the healthcare space.

“Ambulance in 10 minutes. We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities,” Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa posted on X.

Five ambulances equipped with Basic Life Support (BLS) systems have initially been deployed in Gurugram. Users in the serviceable areas can book the ambulances through the Blinkit app.

How much will it cost?

While Dhindsa didn't reveal the charges, he said the ambulance service is not profit-driven and will be offered at an affordable cost.

"Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term," he said.

He also revealed that the company aims to expand the service to all major cities over the next two years.

The ambulances are outfitted with essential life-saving equipment such as oxygen cylinders, AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and emergency medicines. Each vehicle is staffed with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure high-quality care during emergencies.

“We are carefully scaling this service up, as it is both important and new to us. Our aim is to expand to all major cities over the next two years,” Dhindsa said, adding that the initiative is a step towards solving a critical urban challenge.
