Zepto expands into online pharmacy with 10-minute medicine delivery in 4 cities

Quick commerce platform Zepto on Thursday announced its entry into the online pharmacy segment with the launch of ‘Zepto Pharmacy’, promising delivery of medicines in 10 minutes in select cities.

The service is currently live in parts of Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR and Hyderabad, the company’s Co-Founder and CEO Aadit Palicha said in a LinkedIn post.

“Over the past 12 months, the team has worked tirelessly to perfect the customer experience, supply chain, and compliance at a small scale, and we want to grow it steadily from here,” Palicha said.

He added that the objective is to maintain high operational standards and avoid scaling too rapidly given the complexity of the category.

“If we execute well, we believe this service can seriously improve the lives of millions of customers across the country and help make important medicines easier to access when we need them the most,” he said.

The move marks Zepto’s diversification beyond its core 10-minute grocery delivery model and puts it in competition with established online pharmacies like Tata 1mg, PharmEasy and Apollo 24/7, as well as other quick commerce firms offering medicine delivery services.

In January this year, Blinkit introduced a 10-minute ambulance service in select parts of Gurugram, deploying five Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances bookable through its app.

Founded in 2021, Zepto delivers over 25,000 products in 10 minutes through a network of dark stores located in densely populated urban areas within a 3-km radius of customers. The company has recently renamed its parent entity from Kiranakart Technologies Pvt Ltd to Zepto Pvt Ltd for better brand identification ahead of a probable public issue.
