New Delhi: Jan 26 - Young Liu, global business leader and innovator serving as CEO of international semiconductor manufacturing giant Foxconn, has been conferred with one of the highest civilian Awards of India–Padma Bhushan. Padma Bhushan is given for distinguished service of high order. The announcement came on the eve of Republic Day celebration on Jan 26, 2024.

The 66-year-old Taiwanese business leader has been awarded in the trade and industry category for his distinguished services.

Young Liu is the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Hon Hai Technology Group (FOXCONN), the world’s largest electronics manufacturer and the leading global science and technology solutions provider. He oversees Foxconn’s global operations, encompassing over one million employees across 24 countries/regions and revenues that exceeded USD 206 billion in 2021.

The company headquartered in Taiwan, responsible for assembling approximately 70% of iPhones, has been strategically shifting its production focus away from China and expanding its base in India.

Padma Awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March / April every year. For the year 2024, the President has approved conferment of 132 Padma Awards. The list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri Awards. 30 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 8 persons from the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI and 9 Posthumous awardees.
