India's full-service carrier Vistara will operate its last flight on Monday, ahead of its merger with Tata-owned Air India, which will
manage all its operations from November 12.
“Thank you for being part of this unforgettable journey and showering us with your #VistaraLove. We will forever cherish these memories. You are now being redirected to
www.airindia.com for all your bookings,” a message from Vistara on its website reads.
Air India Group on Friday announced key management changes resulting from the merger of Vistara. Vistara CEO Vinod Kannan will continue in his role as chief integration officer and will be a member of the management committee. He will report directly to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson. Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer, Deepak Rajawat, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer at Air India Express, while Vikas Agarwal, currently CFO at Air India Express, will transition to a new role within Air India.
Calling it “one of the most complex mergers in aviation history”, Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said, “As we now approach the end of that process, we are delighted to formalise a Group leadership comprising colleagues from all four antecedent airlines to drive the next phase of our journey.”
What the Vistara-Air India merger means for customers
Existing bookings: Customers with Vistara flights scheduled on or after November 12 will see their bookings automatically transferred to Air India’s reservation system. They will receive notifications with updated flight details, including new Air India flight numbers, which will follow a four-digit code beginning with “2” (e.g., UK 955 will become AI 2955).
Booking and website: After November 12, Vistara’s website will be unavailable for booking, and customers will be redirected to Air India’s website, where they can access all routes previously operated by Vistara, along with Air India's network. Together, the airlines will serve over 85 destinations domestically and internationally.
Loyalty programs: Club Vistara members will transition to Air India’s Flying Returns program. Points will transfer at a 1:1 ratio. Vistara members will be assigned an equivalent tier in Flying Returns, ensuring no loss in status level. All unutilised vouchers will transfer with their existing validity.
Premium economy and fare classes: Though Air India’s fleet does not offer premium economy on all flights, the company said efforts will be made to maintain Vistara customers’ booking classes where possible.
Customer support: Vistara’s customer support will remain available for assistance until November 12. Post-merger, support will be managed by Air India’s team, accessible via Air India's customer portal.
