"I pray to Goddess Lakshmi that the poor and the middle-class sections in the country are blessed by her," PM Modi said.

The Budget comes in the backdrop of the Economic Survey 2024-25, projecting India's GDP to grow at 6.3%-6.8% range in the financial year 2025-26 (FY26), which is much lower than what is needed to become a developed or Vikasit.
The pre-budget document stated that India would need an 8% GDP growth rate to become a developed nation by 2047.
In the current financial year, GDP is expected to grow 6.4%.
