Union Budget 2024-25: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is poised to create history this month by becoming the first Indian finance minister to present seven straight Union Budgets. She will overtake the record held by Morarji Desai, who presented six consecutive budgets.

Addressing the joint sitting of Parliament last month, President Droupadi Murmu had remarked that the upcoming budget will be "historic" and "futuristic".

"This budget will be an impressive document of the government's far-reaching policies and futuristic vision. Along with major economic and social decisions, many historic steps will also be seen in this budget," the President said.

The Finance Minister will present Union Budget 2024-25 on July 23. The Parliament session will commence on July 22 and conclude on August 12.

In a statement, the Finance Minister said that the pre-budget consultation had been concluded, during which more than 120 invitees participated in the meeting.

The stakeholder groups that participated include farmer associations and agriculture economists, the education and health sector, MSMEs, employment and skilling, trade unions, the financial sector, and capital markets, among others.

In the course of the consultations, Sitharaman thanked participants for sharing suggestions and assured them that their suggestions would be examined and looked into while preparing the Union Budget.
