Tata Electronics acquires 60% stake in Pegatron Technology

Tata Electronics on Friday acquired a 60% stake in Pegatron Technology India as a part of its strategy of “growing its manufacturing footprints”. Last year in March 2024, it acquired a 100% stake in Wistron India, which manufactures Apple iPhones.

Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd (TEPL) on Friday, January 24 announced it acquired a 60% controlling stake in Pegatron Technology India. As a part of the deal, in addition to becoming the majority shareholder in Pegaton, both companies will work on integrating their teams.

Furthermore, Pegatron will be rebranded to “reflect its new ownership structure and business direction” while continuing to deliver its electronics manufacturing services.

“…This acquisition solidifies TEPL’s position as a key player in the Indian electronics manufacturing sector," Tata Electronics said.

Pegatron India, a subsidiary of the Taiwanese company Pegatron Corporation, specialises in electronics manufacturing services for companies like Apple and exports its products to North America, Asia, and Europe.

“The acquisition of a majority stake in Pegatron Technology India Private Limited fits into Tata Electronics’ strategy of growing our manufacturing footprint. We look forward to a new era of AI, digital, and technology-led manufacturing as we bring up these new facilities and expand our operations in India,” Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, commented.

Less than a year ago in March 2024, TEPL acquired a 100% stake in Wistron Infocomm Manufacturing (India) Private Limited (WIMI), making it the first Indian company to assemble Apple iPhones.
