Stock market holidays: NSE and BSE to remain shut on THESE days in August 2025; check list

NSE holidays August 2025, BSE holidays August 2025

In 2025, there are a total of 14 stock market holidays, including Holi, Diwali, Christmas and Id-Ul-Fitr.

The Indian stock market will remain closed in August for two days in August 2025, excluding the weekends. National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are closed on the weekends across India, so the markets will be closed for a total of ten days in August.

As per NSE’s holiday calendar, stock markets will be closed on August 15 for Independence Day and August 27 for Ganesh Chaturthi.

For the remaining year, stock markets will observe seven trading holidays, including Gandhi Jayanti and Christmas.

MCX holidays in August

The multi-commodity exchange (MCX) and currency derivatives will also be closed on August 15 (Independence Day) and August 27 (Ganesh Chaturthi). On certain occasions, like Diwali, Holi and Id, the MCX operates for half a day, usually either during the evening session or the morning session, depending on the holiday. On both August 15 and August 27, MCX will be closed for the whole day.
