Sony, LG, Panasonic slash TV prices by up to ₹85,000; ACs cheaper by up to ₹12,000 | Compare rates

SUMMARY
Television, AC and dishwasher makers including Sony, LG, Panasonic, Voltas, Daikin and Godrej have slashed prices from ₹2,500 to ₹85,800 effective September 22, 2025, after the GST Council cut tax rates on white goods from 28% to 18%.
Some AC manufacturers, along with their dealers, had started pre-booking of units at reduced prices, anticipating pent-up demand as lower GST rates take effect next week, and are quite buoyed by the initial consumers' response.
Leading consumer electronics makers Sony, LG and Panasonic have slashed prices of their television models by up to ₹85,000 and room air conditioners by as much as ₹12,000, passing on the benefits of a Goods and Services Tax (GST) cut to customers ahead of the festive season beginning Monday, September 22.
The GST Council earlier this month reduced tax on television sets above 32 inches and on air conditioners from 28% to 18% with effect from September 22, the first day of Navratri.
Television makers have announced price cuts ranging from ₹2,500 to ₹85,800, depending on screen size and specifications, while air conditioner prices have been reduced by up to ₹12,450 across categories.
Sony India has lowered the maximum retail price (MRP) of its Bravia models by ₹5,000 to ₹71,000 across screen sizes of 43 to 98 inches.
The 43-inch Bravia 2 will now cost ₹54,900, down from ₹59,900, while the flagship 98-inch Bravia 5 has been reduced to ₹8.29 lakh from ₹9 lakh.
LG Electronics India has announced price reductions between ₹2,500 and ₹85,800 on TVs ranging from 43 to 100 inches.
The 43-inch model now starts at ₹28,490, while its 100-inch premium TV will retail at ₹4,99,790, down from ₹5,85,590.
Panasonic has cut prices by ₹3,000 to ₹32,000 on its TV range. The company’s 43-inch models now start from ₹33,990, while the top-end 75-inch set is priced at ₹3.68 lakh, down from ₹4 lakh.
Air conditioner makers have also announced significant reductions to pass on the benefits of GST rejig.
Godrej Appliances has slashed MRPs by ₹8,550 to ₹12,450 on cassette and tower ACs, while its split inverter models are cheaper by ₹3,200 to ₹5,900.
Haier has lowered the prices of its Gravity and Kinouchi AI inverter ACs by up to ₹3,905.
Market leader Voltas has reduced prices of its fixed-speed window AC to ₹39,590 from ₹42,990, and its inverter window model to ₹43,290 from ₹46,990.
Daikin’s 1.5-tonne 5-star inverter split AC now costs ₹68,020, down from ₹73,800, while LG’s 1-tonne 3-star inverter split AC is priced at ₹32,890 after a cut of ₹2,800.
Panasonic has also trimmed prices of its 1.5-tonne window ACs to a starting MRP of ₹42,000.
Dishwashers, too, are set to become more affordable.
BSH Home Appliances has reduced prices by up to ₹8,000, with its entry-level model now at ₹45,000, while Voltas Beko’s entry model has been cut to ₹23,390 from ₹25,990.
Industry executives expect the GST-led price cuts to drive strong double-digit growth in sales during the festive season, with consumers likely to opt for larger-screen TVs and premium AC models.
The consumer durables sector, which saw muted demand in the first half of the fiscal, is banking on Navratri and Diwali to revive momentum.
