State Bank of India (SBI) customers will face a temporary disruption in digital services today as the bank undertakes its annual closing activities for the financial year 2024-25.

SBI announced that its online services, including mobile banking and internet banking, will be unavailable from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm (IST) on April 1, 2025, urging customers to rely on UPI Lite and ATM channels for uninterrupted services during this period.

"Due to Annual Closing activities, our digital services will be unavailable to our esteemed customers between 01:00 pm to 04:00 pm (IST) on 01.04.2025,” SBI said in a statement.

“We request you to use UPI Lite and ATM Channels for uninterrupted services. We apologize for the inconvenience caused.”

The outage coincides with the start of the new financial year 2025-26, when all banks observe a holiday as mandated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for the closure of accounts.

The annual tradition allows banks to reconcile transactions, update records, and prepare for the fiscal year ahead.

Physical branches of SBI and other major banks will remain closed today across most states and union territories, except in Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, West Bengal, and Himachal Pradesh, where regional variations keep banks operational.
