The Adani Group and Aditya Birla Group have announced major investment plans for Rajasthan. Anand Mahindra also pledged substantial investments in solar capacity in the state.
The Adani Group on Monday announced plans to invest ₹7.5 lakh crore across various sectors in Rajasthan, half of which will be deployed over the next five years.
Speaking at the Rising Rajasthan Summit, Adani Ports and SEZ Managing Director Karan Adani outlined the group's ambitions to develop the world's largest integrated energy ecosystem. It will include 100 GW of renewable energy, 2 million tonnes of hydrogen, and 1.8 GW of hydro projects.
"These investments will build Rajasthan into an oasis of green jobs," Adani said.
The Aditya Birla Group committed to investing ₹50,000 crore in the state across its businesses over the next few years, Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla said. This will include ₹6,000 crore in renewable energy within the next 1-2 years.
"Across our businesses, we are committed to scale up our investments. I foresee our group investing Rs 50,000 crore in the next few years spanning cement, renewables, telecom and retail," Birla said.
He added that UltraTech Cement will enhance its capacity in Rajasthan by 10 million tonnes, up from the current 20 million tonnes.
The Mahindra Group pledged ₹11,000 crore towards expanding its solar capacity in Rajasthan. Speaking at the event in Jaipur, Mahindra Group chairman Anand Mahindra said the company has set up 1.1 gigawatt solar capacity in Rajasthan.
"Our solar division has erected over 1.1 GW in Rajasthan and already committed investment of over Rs 11,000 crore to achieve an additional 2.8 GW capacity," Mahindra said.
"Club Mahindra has six properties in the state and plans to nearly double (it) in the coming years," he added.
Addressing the inaugural session of the Rising Rajasthan Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today every expert and investor in the world is very excited about India.
"In the last ten years, India has become the 5th largest economy from the 10th largest. In the last ten years, India has almost doubled the size of the economy. India's exports have also almost doubled in ten years," he said.
PM Modi said our government is working on the mantra of development as well as heritage, and Rajasthan is getting huge benefits from it.
"Rajasthan is not just rising but also proving to be reliable. The state is receptive to change and knows how to refine itself over time. Recently, Rajasthan's "R-factor" has gained an additional dimension, with the people electing a responsive government led by the BJP," he said.
