Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Bihar on Wednesday, where he is scheduled to launch and lay the foundation stone of a slew of development projects worth over ₹13,480 crore and participate in the National Panchayati Raj Day celebrations in Madhubani.

This is Modi’s first public appearance after the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 tourists were killed on Tuesday.

A programme scheduled to be held in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has been cancelled in view of the incident.

In Madhubani, the prime minister will participate in a programme marking National Panchayati Raj Day at around 11:45 am. He will also present the National Panchayat Awards, recognising top-performing Panchayats across the country.

During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for multiple infrastructure and development projects across Bihar, including an LPG bottling plant with rail unloading facility at Hathua in Gopalganj district.

In a major push to the power sector, Modi will lay the foundation stone for projects worth over ₹1,170 crore and inaugurate power sector initiatives worth more than ₹5,030 crore under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme.

Modi will also flag off the Amrit Bharat Express between Saharsa and Mumbai, and the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail between Jaynagar and Patna. He will inaugurate new train services between Pipra-Saharsa and Saharsa-Samastipur, and dedicate the Supaul-Pipra and Hasanpur-Bithan rail lines. Two 2-lane rail overbridges at Chapra and Bagaha, and the Khagaria-Alauli rail line will be dedicated to the nation.

As part of the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM), the Prime Minister will distribute ₹930 crore under the Community Investment Fund to over two lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Bihar.

He will also hand over sanction letters to 15 lakh new beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), release instalments to 10 lakh PMAY-G beneficiaries across the country, and hand over house keys marking the Grih Pravesh of one lakh PMAY-G and 54,000 PMAY-Urban homes in Bihar.
